Upon returning from Iraq in 2005, Antoine Snelgro had the urge to create a unique entertainment company that would also be a positive influence in the industry, and free of the restrictions bigger entertainment companies often faced.

Snelgro felt that anyone could create music and film, but he wanted to create an organization that was geared toward youth and the family structure, rather than focusing on signing someone that could be ‘the next big thing’. As a result, Snelgro created Saving Our Babies Entertainment.

The company began with one goal – to show youth that it’s possible to create entertainment in a positive manner without sacrificing one’s integrity. With that in mind, the purpose of Saving Our Babies Entertainment is also to unite and maintain unity within the family structure, especially within the black family.

After creating Saving Our Babies Entertainment, Snelgro wanted to learn more about music and film production and to grow his entertainment company. To achieve this, Snelgro went to Pasadena and studied television film and radio at Pasadena City College (PCC). While at PCC, Snelgro hosted his own radio show on the school’s student-run radio station, Lancer Radio. Here, Snelgro produced and hosted the Saving Our Babies Eclectic Music Hour.

Snelgro’s drive and passion for his show and his entertainment company proved successful when he released a mixed tape in 2006 and received positive feedback.

Six years later, Saving Our Babies Entertainment is preparing for a busy year. Snelgro is set to release a film, original soundtrack and related videos within the next several weeks along with books that share the back story for his passion.Among these projects, Snelgro plans to release the film, Conversations With a Baby Daddy…Breaking the Chain of Pain.

The film documents the man’s point-of-view and what men go through as fathers’, especially when the mother of their children is not on the same page as them. The film provides a unique look into the family structure, from the male perspective, and what these men go through while raising their children in a society that often does not see their side.

Snelgro’s docu-tation (documentary educating viewers), is an intimate look into a men’s group he fostered to vent and find solutions to problems that they have or have faced in the past. Featuring real people in real situations, the film aims to help someone else out who may be going through the same thing.

A father of 3 children, Snelgro hopes that the film helps people understand that not all “baby daddies” can be explained by the dismal statistics people often see in the media. The purpose of the dialogue among the men’s group featured in the film is to allow them to let out their thoughts that would otherwise go unheard.

“I want people to see that real men raise, support, finance, educate, and most of all, love our children,” says Snelgro. “Understanding that all ‘baby daddy’s’ are not what the statistics say they are. That real men raise, support, finance, educate, and most of all, love our children. We are out to make a difference and show society that we are consciously ‘Saving Our Babies’ one family at a time.”

Conversations With a Baby Daddy…Breaking the Chain of Pain, is set for an early February release. The soundtrack for the film will be released in late January.
