On Sunday, August 5, 2012, Umbrella Salon in Downtown San Jose hosted Ronnie Bogle’s nigel Who? “ONE with the Clouds” male fashion show. The designer debuted his 31st collection, which consisted of active wear and intimate wear for men. This event was free to the public, with limited seating and standing room available. The show started at 8PM, but guests started to quickly fill up the seats at the 7PM reception. By the start of the show, the salon was packed with a large audience of 334 official guests, anticipating Bogle’s new collection.

Bogle is not a new name in the fashion industry. His label, nigel Who? as well as his 26 year career is well known in the Bay Area by both fans and media outlets. This “ONE with the Clouds” fashion show was unlike any other. To the designer, it meant so much more. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Bogle after his show for an interview. When asked what this show meant to him, he shared, “The show is way bigger than just a men’s collection. It’s paying homage to my business partner, who unfortunately passed away last November.”

Bogle told us that his business partner had a passion for active wear as well as underwear, so he wanted to pay tribute to him though this new collection of clothing that took him nine months to make. “I’d like to make a statement to people that art, fashion, painting, music, whatever that art form is, can be a healing process.” We all have ways in which we grieve over the ones we’ve lost, and for Bogle, he showed us his heart through his designs, which is his way of healing and moving forward.

The designer’s “ONE with the Clouds” theme represents the “male who is the leader of his own lifestyle choices and is comfortable in his world and the decisions he makes in his career and particular lifestyle.” Bogle’s collection featured tank tops, t-shirts, pajama pants and underwear that his 20 models showcased. To top off the looks, the models accessorized in socks, hats, ties, bowties, suspenders and glasses. Debbie Torres McCarthy, who hosted the fashion show, (and also host of Nevada Matters Media 99.1 Fox News Radio) said Bogle’s designs are, “soft and sexy, yet playful with the suspenders!”  One of our favorite items from the collection were the pajama pants in assorted colors. They were made from 400 thread count cottons, and looked elegant yet comfortable. Each time a model came out wearing the pajama pants, we just wanted to reach out and touch the fabric!

All of the models in the show were toned, fit, and looked highly professional as they strutted their stuff down the runway. Photographers snapped photo after photo as the models walked to the beat of the music. Torres McCarthy commented, “The music was incredible! It made me want to dance with joy.” We had the chance to catch up with model, Cloud Mykals, at the end of the night, who had nothing but good things to say about the show. Mykals shared with us that he thought the show was perfect, and went smoothly. “Ronnie has exceeded my expectations as far as bay area designers. He’s probably the best person I’ve worked with yet. I really hope to work with him more in the future.”

The model and face of nigel Who?, Nick Nelson, also had only good words to say about Bogle. “When he saw my look he knew right away that I had to be in his campaigns and fashion show! I was elated that someone had such interest in my look.” According to Bogle, this show was the first fashion show for many of the models, including Nelson. “I walked with confidence knowing that this could possibly be my big break! It was magical to walk ‘ONE with the Clouds,’” says Nelson, who aimed to model the clothes with “flare and personality.”

We expect to see much more from this designer in the near future. His next show will be a dog line that debuts in September in Reno, Nevada. Bogle made a special announcement on the night of his show that in the next couple of years, nigel Who? will become a modeling and acting agency. He also announced that Nelson will be the spokesmodel for his 2013 nigel Who? fragrance called Who? ?. When asked his thoughts, Nelson shared that he was honored to be the face of Bogle’s line, but being the nigel Who? spokesmodel, ”topped it all off! I was stunned beyond belief. You’ll for sure be seeing more of Nick Nelson.”

During our one-on-one interview, Bogle shared that what he’s working on now is a women’s dress line inspired by Alice in Wonderland. We are very excited to see this collection of women’s wear because it’s made for all sized women. Bogle said, “It’s what I’ve been really wanting to do. Women have always asked me, ‘I love it! But does it come in my size?’ That is just them telling me that we need to expand the market and make sure that women of all sizes have the option of wearing whatever they want. nigel Who? is going to be doing that.”

It’s safe to say that Ronnie Bogle’s hard work paid off. Twenty models, 10 technical crew members and 75 backstage crew members helped to pull off a half hour show of perfection. Ronnie Bogle is a name to look out for in the future. We believe that the nigel Who? label is going to be bigger than ever.
